If you decide to venture a trip here I hope your experience turns out much better then ours. I'm not saying I'll never eat here again but I will say they'll be other restaurants higher on the list then Halyards.
Our servers name was Carol. Please ask to be seated in her section. She was so sweet and knowledgeable about the entire menu. She made all the right suggestions. Trust me on this one.
Our first trip (probably last) here was a bit disappointing. Seems the owner is trying to incorporate high end dining with a very casual atmosphere. I was wearing a dinner jacket and the guy walking in in front of me was in faded jeans and a flannel shirt. After looking at their online menu we just assumed it was a more upscale restaurant. But the saying is, never ass/u/me anything.
My wife ordered the lamb chops that came in the portion size of 2. Yes, 2 whole small lamb chops. I have to admit that is the first time I have ever walked into a restaurant and seen only 2 lamb chops served. They call it the "small plates". So now we have upscale dining that's very casual tapas bar. Kooky.
Our bill worked out to be $150.00 + $50.00 tip. It certainly wasn't our servers fault they dropped the ball on our meal. This rarely happens to us when dining out. When it does we never complain, we just simply don't return.
Best meal on the Island. Everything we ordered was over the top good!
Had dinner at their Italian restaurant next door. Food was very tasty. I give them 5 stars.
Meanwhile back at the review: My Halibut was overcooked (that's the risk you take when cooking such small portions haha). My brussel sprouts were way over the top over salted. That had to be an error while cooking. No way that could have been on purpose.
The atmosphere and service is impeccable. The Endive salad is one of the best salads I've ever had!
We were seated in a nice cozy corner (as requested) and the staff was very friendly and our service was very good. The food quality is what was disappointing. Not to mention the Halibut portion size was 3 ounces, and I don't mean 3.5 ounces. In the Chef's defense, that was conveyed to me prior to my order. Maybe I was just hopeful the Chef would slip and slice an extra ounce in there for me...he didn't. And at $30+ per plate the Halibut works out to be a little over $150.00 per pound. Market price is around $22.00 per pound. Nice mark up...6.5x, but they are running a business.
